How to work 70 hours day?
A simple life hack which I use to work long hours
When someone applies to Unlearn - they fill out a rather extensive and detailed application form.
One of the most important questions we ask on that form is -
Expectations from Unlearn Product.
Honestly, it is a damn tough question to ask.
~60% of the people say they are looking for a better job.
Which basically means they are looking to get a hike on their current CTC.
just one of the many examples we have
While it is fair to ask for a higher CTC
After all, more skill sets should equal higher pay.
But here’s the twist: expecting just a fatter paycheck is the wrong approach.
It’s bad for you and us.
If you are coming to Unlearn with the only expectation to get a better package, then please DO NOT join Unlearn.
Let me explain why.
Since childhood, we’re often told to aim for a higher CTC.
It’s ingrained in us -
“marks acche honge toh naukri acchi”
“ye field mein matt jao, paise kam hote hai”
“iss exam ke baad toh package double hona pakka hai”
We take different paths but end up pursuing the same destination: a higher CTC
Here’s the real secret: when you are passionate about your work, when you find fulfillment and joy in what you do, money will become a byproduct rather than the sole motivating factor.
My go-to advice for anyone joining Unlearn has been:
“Do what you’d pay to do”
What that means is:
If I had to pay monthly fees just to continue working at Unlearn, I would find a way.
I’d work odd jobs, cut down on expenses, break my FDs, and raid my childhood piggy bank just to keep doing what I love.
And I think that makes a huge difference.
Suddenly, work doesn’t feel like work.
It feels like….fun.
At least, it makes working 70+ hours a week a heck of a lot easier :P
